Go Behind the Scenes as the Henegar Prepares 'Grease'
A LEAD Brevard event offers a look at the Henegar Center's final dress rehearsal before the MainStage production opens August 14.
Before the first ticketed audience settles into the Henegar Center, a small group will get to see the moment when the cast, crew, lights and costumes finally come together.
LEAD Brevard is inviting participants to a private final dress rehearsal of “Grease” on Thursday, August 13—the night before the production opens in downtown Melbourne. The event is part of the organization's LEAD on the Move series.
An optional VIP experience begins with a backstage tour at 5:30 p.m. and includes dinner. The rehearsal is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. LEAD Brevard says registration closes August 10, subject to availability.
Why a dress rehearsal is different
A final dress rehearsal is the last full run before opening night. Actors perform in costume, technical crews run lighting and sound cues, scene changes happen at show pace and the production team gets one final chance to catch problems.
For the audience, that makes the night more revealing than a standard performance. The show is nearly finished, but the machinery is still visible. A pause, reset or last-minute adjustment is part of the experience rather than a flaw in it.
The backstage-tour option takes that idea further, opening parts of the theater most guests never see: wings where actors wait for entrances, costume and prop areas, and the technical spaces that make the stage transform.

“Grease” opens August 14
The Henegar's public run of “Grease” is scheduled for August 14 through September 6 on the MainStage. The show is rated PG-13.
Regular performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with Sunday and select Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. The theater lists MainStage tickets at $48, including service and processing fees, with a $2 discount for students, military members and seniors 60 and older.
Because performance availability can change, theatergoers should check the Henegar's 2026-27 season page or official ticketing page before making plans.
A look at the people behind the curtain
Community theater depends on far more people than the cast members whose names appear above the title. Sets have to be built and moved. Costumes need fittings and repairs. Musicians, stage managers, spotlight operators and volunteers all have to hit their cues.
A rehearsal audience gets a better sense of that collaboration. It is a chance to watch the Henegar not only as a venue but as a working arts organization preparing a large musical for a multiweek run.
