Community Credit Union Opens Full-Service Merritt Island Branch
The member-owned credit union has opened a new branch on North Courtenay Parkway for personal banking, business services, loans and financial guidance.

Community Credit Union of Florida opened its full-service branch at 1380 N. Courtenay Parkway on Monday, August 3. The credit union says the location offers personal and business banking, lending and financial guidance.
The opening follows requests from members who wanted a branch on the island. CCU Florida has said details for a formal ribbon-cutting celebration will be announced separately.
What residents can do at the new branch
The Merritt Island office is designed for the transactions and conversations that are often easier face to face. Customers can ask about checking and savings accounts, consumer loans, mortgages, business services and other products offered by the credit union.

A Brevard institution that started with $40
The credit union's local history stretches back more than seven decades. It was chartered in Titusville in 1953 by a group of 10 teachers and originally operated as the Brevard County Teacher's Credit Union.
Eight of the teachers signed the organization certificate and each subscribed to one $5 share—$40 in starting capital altogether.
That educator-led beginning still shapes the organization. CCU Florida describes itself as a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative and continues to emphasize financial education alongside traditional banking services.
The Merritt Island branch adds a new physical chapter to that Brevard story. For island residents and small-business owners, it also means one fewer reason to cross a causeway for an in-person appointment.
What comes next
CCU Florida has not yet published the date for the branch's official ribbon cutting. Residents who want to attend can watch the credit union's news page and social channels for the announcement.
In the meantime, the branch is open at 1380 N. Courtenay Parkway. Anyone considering a new account or loan should review the current terms directly with the credit union and confirm that the product fits their needs.
The most striking part of the opening may be the timeline behind it: a cooperative that began with 10 Titusville teachers and $40 now has another front door in the community where it grew up.
